... I really liked the reviews of the Casio HR-100TM on Amazon; however, when I got to Walmart today and saw how large that model actually was, I couldn't justify finding the storage space for something that size at home. (If I ever need a new calculator at work, though, I'll keep that model in mind.) I previously owned a Canon P1-DHII (similar size to the Casio HR-8TM here), purchased several years ago; it probably still works, but I couldn't remember how to load a paper roll without the manual (long since gone). I bought the Casio HR-8TM at Walmart today, and figured out how to load the paper pretty quickly -- with the help of the instruction sheet. (A larger diagram, or a video paper loading demo on the Casio website, would have been even more helpful, though.) I tried a short-term interest calculation (similar to the ones I typically do at the office) without any difficulty (although I'm not sure if I'll use the percent key or just multiply by the decimal equivalent in future); balancing the checkbook and checking my spouse's math on the taxes look like they should be easy enough, too.
If I had the storage space for a larger printing calculator, I would probably not have purchased this one. Since I don't have a kid-proof place to leave this set up long-term at home, though(something about long rolls of paper is such a kid magnet!), this model is the best compromise solution I can come up with. (I plan to keep the little plastic bag with the instruction sheet secured to the calculator in storage, though; without daily use, memorizing the important parts of the instructions is going to take a while.) ...

... I purchased this Casio because it was a lot cheaper then a TI83/84. In it's advertising it says it does the same functions but I am finding that it does not. When it does do one of the functions it is off by it's rounding or it doesn't come up with the same type of answer (different form like decimal) which I have to then translate to the correct form. For me it was not worth the price break. ...

... This calculator is only 3 1/2 by 2 1/8 inches when closed. I researched before I bought it. I wanted a small, basic calculator to just sit on my desk and await my commands.
It has the percent, square root, +/-, and memory keys. It has two way power. It sits flat when open. There is no tension in the hinge so it will not hold itself in a bent position. I have no trouble holding it in one hand when I use it. It snaps closed firmly.
It's a great little calculator. It will fit in any pocket I can think of and it's allways ready. Price is right too. ...

... The Casio FC 200V is a very intuitive and easy to use calculator.
This is my first financial calculator but due to the ease of use it took me only a couple of hours to figure out all the functions. I especially like the fact that all the variables are listed out for a given function in a way that you can scroll down to see them, therefore you need not remember the required variables for the function. Also when you set the variables for one function they are generally available for the next function which saves time if you're doing two different calculations using the same set of data.
Standard calculator mode (and statistical mode) does not have the 'thousand' separators for the numerical display, but you won't miss them too much once you get used to it. However the financial modes do include the separators which you need to activate through the setup function.
The keys on the Casio FC-200V Financial Calculator are easy to press and the unit feels solid. It's also light weight and is especially easy to use with both hands. Includes the standard financial calculation functions, such as a standard bond calculation function, EAR and APR conversion, NPV, Payback, Depreciation, Loan amortization etc etc...
How the Casio FC 200V stacks up to its competitors I cannot comment, as I have not used other models (Texas Instruments, HP etc). However I have no regrets in buying this and highly recommend it. This can become a valuable financial tool for work and studies. I know it has for me.

... There's really not much you can say about a calculator. Either it has buttons and a display that you like, along with functions you need, or it doesn't.
This one's claim to fame is the fact that it's made from recycled Canon products, which is frankly irrelevant to me. It's relevant to my daughter though, so she's very happy. As for usage, it's actually really great. I love the tax calculation functions and we use it to do off the cuff totals at our store without having to deal with our point-of-sale software. Buttons are big and have good action, display is large and easy to read.
I wouldn't pay more for it because of the recycled aspect, but it's actually a great product and I'm very happy with it. ...

... I haven't really explored my calculator since buying it a year ago. I'm a college student in BA. I find the time value of money calculations very simple. The Stat functions are clean enough. I used to use an RPN calculator, and I miss doing it that way instead of brackets. I'd prefer to see my intermediate answers instead of the formula entered.
The calculator comes with a fold-over vinyl cover. I found that looked cheap and got in the way. I pulled the cover off and use it to carry index cards. The calculator bounces around loose in my briefcase or pocket and can take it. It's been stepped on (with socks) and ignored it. The glass display window doesn't pick up scratches. It's a lot more elegant looking without the cheap vinyl cover, and has no-slip feet behind the glued-on cover.
Several reviews are unhappy with the battery. Mine is still good after more than a year.

The TI will do the job and it is the one my school text book uses, however, the Casio has a more natural display and it almost explains itself as you use it. The instructions that came with the Casio leave something to be desired. The TI instructions are written in words and in English, instead of having to deal with the iconic pictures with the Casio. True, most of the good things mentioned in reviews here are indeed true but I found out one major flaw in the "algebra mode"
for this calculator.
In the past, I have avoided HP calculators becuase HP insists on RPN. So I was happy to have an HP calculator with both algebra and RPN until I found out about "Algebra mode" in this calculator.
